It is with a very heavy heart that I must report

the untimely demise of a gentleman and journalist. Mr. William George, Editor and Publisher of the Amboy Beacon died last night. He will be missed by many, those whom he touched daily and those who would read the labor's of his love on a weekly basis. He was passionate about life in the Amboy's and his dedication to the community was evident in his writings. I am honored to have known him and will miss him dearly.

The Beacon will continue in his absence but I ask that his readers be patient in this difficult time for all of us.

In his memmory I would ask all his readers to become more involved in their communites and to become Beacons of the Amboy's.

  1. Bill George and The Beacon, nearly one and the same, were landmarks to the City of Perth Amboy. I was assigned to cover a story by Bill just this past Wednesday and did so, therefore, Carolyn, if you accept it, there is already an article to use to keep going. Also, Carolyn, I vow to assist you with transitioning the Beacon into its new era.

  2. Our Deepest sympathy goes out to Carolyn and Bills family. He was a man of great talents, an abundance of knowledge, and took great pride in his community efforts by way of his journalistic abilitys. Bill will be greatly missed especially on Tuesday evenings when he would come to the shop with Carolyn to have his newspaper printed and after all these years we finally got Bill to put his Newspaper on a Stick drive instead of paste-up boards, but we just could not get him to learn the FTP site. They would stay until the paper was done, meanwhile have a few laughs and conversations with us or the staff. Then he would load up his car and be on his way until the next week. Bill you left us to early, We still had so much to learn from you and you still had so much more to tell us. Carolyn we hope you can continue Bill's dream and may his dream go on forever.
    Our deepest sympothy,
Glenn, Maureen, and the entire Webco Graphics Staff

  3. I would just like to say a thankyou to the Perth Amboy community.Uncle Bill was a great man and after meeting the company he kept i truely believe that. Uncle Bill may be dead and gone from this earth but his memory never will be. We should now celebrate his life and not mourn his death.I know he would want it that way.Thank you to everyone for coming to the viewing and funeral. It was a great pleasure to meet all of the people uncle Bill impacted in some way. Thank you for everyone's hospatality. You all made us feel very welcomed. A special thanks to the Novak funeral home.Ya'll did an amazing job and the service was beautiful. Uncle Bill was blessed to have such great friends.Everyone went out of the way for our family and you don't meet many people so willing to make us feel at home. So just a big thank you to everyone. I know Uncle Bill will always be an our hearts.
    With love,
    Uncle Bills niece,Kathryn George
P.S.as a small last request i do ask that if anyone does keep the paper going,i ask that you do it with the same honesty, passion, and without fear, like my uncle did.He would want it to be that way nothing less. But i'm sure that now he is up in heaven writing Gods newspaper, the heavenly beacon.
